Editorial Standards & Practitioner Verification

Last updated: 2026-05-01

PromptHealth is committed to providing trustworthy, accurate health information and connecting patients with qualified, licensed practitioners. This page explains how we verify practitioner credentials, govern content quality, and maintain platform integrity.

Practitioner Credential Verification

Active Professional License Required

Licensing & Regulatory Standing

All health practitioners who apply to list on PromptHealth must hold a current, valid licence issued by an accredited provincial or territorial regulatory college in Canada. We confirm licence currency at the time of onboarding and perform periodic spot-checks thereafter. Practitioners whose licence lapses or is revoked are removed from the directory.

  • Physicians & surgeons — verified against provincial College of Physicians & Surgeons databases
  • Dentists & dental specialists — verified against provincial Royal College of Dental Surgeons records
  • Registered nurses & nurse practitioners — verified against provincial nursing regulatory body records
  • Physiotherapists, chiropractors & other regulated allied-health professionals — verified against the relevant provincial college
  • Registered dietitians & naturopathic doctors — verified against applicable regulatory bodies
  • Counsellors, social workers & psychotherapists — verified where regulated; unregulated wellness coaches are clearly labelled
Education & Qualifications

Education Credentials

Practitioners are required to provide documentation of their highest relevant degree, diploma, or certification. Our team reviews submitted credentials against issuing institutions where feasible. Credentials listed on practitioner profiles reflect self-reported information confirmed at onboarding.

Ongoing Compliance

Continued Eligibility Requirements

Practitioners agree to our Terms of Service and Medical Disclaimer upon joining. They are required to:

  • Maintain their licence in good standing
  • Carry professional liability (malpractice) insurance as required by their regulatory body
  • Notify PromptHealth immediately of any licence suspension, conditions, or disciplinary proceedings
  • Represent their qualifications, services, and pricing accurately on their profile

Practitioners found to have misrepresented credentials or violated our policies are immediately suspended pending review and may be permanently removed.

Content Editorial Standards

Health content published by practitioners in the PromptHealth Community — including articles, videos, and educational posts — must meet the following standards.

Authorship & Expertise

All community content must be authored or reviewed by a licensed healthcare practitioner registered on PromptHealth. Author credentials and regulatory college affiliations are displayed prominently on each article. Anonymous publishing is not permitted.

Accuracy & Evidence Standards

Practitioners are expected to base their content on current, peer-reviewed evidence and the clinical guidelines of their respective regulatory bodies. Content must:

  • Cite sources for specific clinical claims where applicable
  • Distinguish clearly between established evidence and personal opinion
  • Avoid promotion of unproven or potentially harmful treatments
  • Include a disclosure when the practitioner has a commercial relationship with any products or services mentioned

Review & Update Process

  1. Submission — Practitioners submit articles through the PromptHealth editor. All content undergoes automated checks for completeness, word count, and disclosure compliance.
  2. Editorial review — Our editorial team reviews submitted articles for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to these standards. Articles that do not meet the bar are returned to the author with feedback.
  3. Publication — Approved articles are published with the author's full name, credentials, regulatory college, and publication date clearly displayed.
  4. Ongoing review — Content is flagged for reassessment when clinical guidelines change, when readers report inaccuracies, or when a practitioner's licence status changes. Outdated content is updated or unpublished.

Patient Reviews & Ratings

How Reviews Are Collected

Reviews on PromptHealth are submitted by verified patients who have had an appointment or consultation with the practitioner. To leave a review, users must:

  • Have a verified PromptHealth account linked to a real email address
  • Have booked or engaged the practitioner's services through or outside the platform

Practitioners cannot write reviews for themselves, and review brigading (coordinated campaigns to inflate or deflate ratings) is a violation of our Terms of Service and results in removal.

Review Moderation

PromptHealth reserves the right to remove reviews that:

  • Contain personal attacks, hate speech, or defamatory content
  • Include patient-identifying information in violation of privacy expectations
  • Are clearly fraudulent, incentivised, or posted by a practitioner about themselves or a competitor
  • Are outside the scope of a patient-practitioner relationship (e.g., reviews of facility staff, not the listed practitioner)

Practitioners may flag a review they believe violates these policies. Flagged reviews are reviewed by our team within 10 business days.

Corrections & Transparency

We are committed to correcting errors promptly. If you believe any practitioner profile information or community content is inaccurate, outdated, or misleading, please contact us. We will review the report within 5 business days and make corrections where warranted. Material corrections to published articles are disclosed with a correction notice and updated date.

PromptHealth is not affiliated with any pharmaceutical company, insurance provider, or health authority. We generate revenue through practitioner subscription plans. This commercial relationship does not influence our editorial decisions or the ranking of practitioners in search results — rankings are based on relevance and completeness of profile information.
